Online CEU Training Now Available for Florida ACOs.

The American Animal Cruelty Investigations School (AACIS) is proud to announce the launch of a new 4-hour online training class specifically developed to meet the continuing education requirements for all Florida certified animal control officers. This comprehensive course is meticulously designed to keep officers up to date with the latest legal standards, best practices, and essential knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively and responsibly. Officially launching on Monday, June 16, 2025, this program offers a flexible and convenient way for officers to maintain their professional certification while advancing their expertise in animal care and control.

The AACIS 4-hour course is organized into six targeted sections, each addressing a crucial area of animal control work. The curriculum includes: 1) Animal Control Officer Knowledge, providing a foundation in professionalism, ethics, and daily responsibilities; 2) Legal Environment, where participants review state statutes, ordinances, and enforcement procedures relevant to Florida; 3) Field Operations, with training on safe handling, equipment use, and field response protocols; 4) Animal Knowledge, covering the behavior, welfare, and assessment of animals commonly encountered by officers; 5) Investigations, focusing on the identification, documentation, and prosecution of cruelty and neglect cases; and 6) Veterinary Knowledge, which ensures officers understand basic animal health, zoonotic diseases, and emergency care.

To ensure the training remains relevant and effective, the content of the course will be updated annually to reflect the newest changes in laws, emerging issues, and best practices within the animal care and control profession. Each lesson is filled with practical, real-world information that Florida animal control officers can immediately apply in their daily work. The course is delivered entirely online, allowing participants to complete the material at their own pace. Students have up to seven days to finish the course after enrolling, making it accessible for even the busiest officers.
